photoshop is fun

I've been having lots of fun lately with the "posterize" feature in photoshop.

So cool!

I decided to do a series of the chilluns.

I had made some tee shirts a while back for the boy with posterized lacrosse photos on them. They were great!  Until they went through the dryer. fyi, Avery Dark T-shirt transfers should not go through the dryer.

Anyway, I decided I wanted large versions of these.

So I uploaded them to Snapfish and ordered the 20"x30" versions.

Two days later, these were in my mailbox.  I did have to trim them down to fit the frames, but it was super easy.

Snapfish is awesome.  The processing looks great, and man was it FAST.  I LOVE how they turned out.

All over my house are random crayons, markers, pencils, and colored pencils.  It's been driving me crazy.

So I grabbed this old Coca Cola crate that was sitting on my front stoop collecting bric-a-brac.

I wiped all the spider webs off, and lined it with poster board.

Then I spent the rest of the day gathering up these.

And these.

And some of these.

Now I have a nifty new centerpiece. Wonder how long it will last.

If you haven't played around with Avery Dark T-Shirt Transfers, you are missing out!

I used them for the first time this weekend, and could not believe how easy they were. (you can find them in the label section of your local office supply store)

None of that printing backwards stuff. Just print, cut, cover (included), and iron. These are shots I had taken, then Photoshopped using first the posterize option, and then adjusting the hue/saturation to whatever color combination struck my fancy.

 

Learning curve was minimal. i.e. Cover the decal completely so you don't burn the bottom right corner. Oh, and wash the tee first.

He got quite a kick out of the fact that none of his friends believed it was him in the picture.  So, for today anyway, he thinks his mom is rockin'.

crafty thought of the day

So, I love these little boxes that come with rounds of Camembert.  Well, I love little boxes in general.  But the paper labels are impossible to remove.

If you can't beat 'em, cover 'em up and slap on some Mod Podge!

In retrospect, I wouldn't have sealed the inside of the box due to the tacky factor.  But hey, not too shabby for something I chose not to put in the rubbish bin!
